ChallengeHER Atlanta
This event is SOLD OUT!
Earlier this year, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that the federal government exceeded its 23% small business contracting goal for the second year in a row. Of the $91.7 billion spent with small businesses in FY14, 4.68% ($17.2 billion) was awarded to women-owned small businesses (WOSBs) – up from 4.32% in FY13, but still short of the government’s 5% goal.
Despite missing the goal, the WOSB Federal Contract Program has been successful since its inception in 2011 and has sparked the creation of other programs to aid women contractors, like ChallengeHER– a joint initiative by the SBA, Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) and American Express OPEN.
On Wednesday, July 29th, ChallengeHER is hosting afree event for Atlanta area women business owners to learn about the SBA’s Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) Federal Contract program as well as hear from agency officials and successful small business contractors about growing their businesses through government contracting. Additionally, attendees can sign up to participate in Contract Connections, one-on-one meetings with procurement officials, government buyers and large prime contractors.
Launched in 2013, ChallengeHER is a joint initiative from the SBA, American Express OPEN and Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP) designed to promote the WOSB Program and bring more women-owned firms into the federal government’s supply chain.
