The Hosted Payload Summit was launched in 2010 as a full day event focused solely on how Hosted Payloads could meet the needs of budget-conscious government, military, civil and commercial satellite users.  Through the years, The Hosted Payload and Smallsat Summit has grown to include all classes of Small Satellites, allowing a wide variety of attendees to participate in comprehensive discussions, in-depth workshop sessions, networking breaks and an evening reception.

Brought to you by the producers of the SATELLITE Conference & Exhibition, the Hosted Payload and Smallsat Summit will bring together the satellite community to discuss the trade-offs and attributes of hosted payloads and small satellites, and how they fit into mission configuration.

A Hosted Payload is a module attached to a commercial satellite with communications circuitry that operates independently of the main spacecraft but which shares the satellite’s power supply and transponders.  

A Small Satellite is a satellite of low mass and size, usually under 500 kg (1,100 lb). Both technologies have become increasingly important for many organizations, including the military and government, to ensure success by offering cost-effective solutions for access to space.  While hosted payloads and smallsats offer different trade-offs, they both offer attributes mission planners are looking for – mission flexibility, lowered costs, less risk, faster time to orbit, reduced operational and technical complexity.
