Over the next five years, nearly one million servicemen and women will return to civilian life as our military drawdown continues. Most of these veterans will be between the ages of 18 and 24, and on average, 200,000 return to the workforce every year.
Technology represents a career field where these veterans are likely to excel. These soldiers have a solid work ethic, exceptional communications skills, and a proven ability to work across cultures and in a team.
Add to this the fact that the Army trains the most diverse and tech-savvy workforce in the country, using skills as diverse as cybersecurity, robotics, GPS and drones.
This webinar will discuss in-depth how the Army is using career skills building with the world’s largest enterprise software supplier, SAP, and the St. Michael’s Learning Academy to provide a technologically trained and certified workforce ready to hire today.
We’ll Discuss:
-
The attributes that make veterans superior employees.
-
Why employers should hire veterans.
-
Challenges transitioning veterans face when entering the workforce.
-
Resources available from the SAP Veterans to Work Program including coursework, workforce fundamentals, and free certification testing.
-
Best practices and challenges in offering career skills programs to transitioning veterans.
