Red Hat Coffee Hour with Adam Stelzner
The Red Hat® Coffee Hour series is a bi-weekly videocast featuring luminaries from technology, society and the world of STEM. Topics for discussion will include governmental and societal impacts of technology, open source in Sci/Tech/Med., as well as the role of technology and work/life balance.
NASA did it again. They’ve successfully used the “Mars Sky Crane” to deliver an exploration vehicle to Mars - and this time they’re taking it to the air - with a Linux powered helicopter. We’ll talk to Adam Steltzner, the Chief Engineer for the Mars Perseverance project, which landed on February 18 of 2021. Adam Clater, Chief Architect of Red Hat and Adam Steltzner will discuss the program, the role that open source software has played in the development of projects at JPL and the use of Linux on the Mars Helicopter. They will also discuss the other programs Steltzner has taken part in and the outcomes of the #Mars2020 Project to date!
