Just as real-world governments, militaries and diplomats are working to contain kinetic violence in 2022, cyber conflicts in the virtual world are taking place almost every week. While Americans and American agencies have not been as targeted as other countries – Ukraine, Finland, Greece, the United Kingdom, Montenegro, and Latvia, to name just a few – cyber defenders are faced with an onslaught of attacks, whether from criminal organizations or nation-states.
In April, for instance, Attorney General Merrick Garland announced the dismantling of a global botnet controlled by Russia’s military intelligence unit. “Fortunately, we were able to disrupt this botnet before it could be used. Thanks to our close work with international partners, we were able to detect the infection of thousands of network hardware devices,” he said.
Join us as thought leaders from government and industry discuss the nature of cyber warfare, the steps agencies such as the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency are taking to defend against it, and where government IT professionals can find useful information.
