Shared Services in the Cloud Webcast
According to several recent surveys, the top two priorities for CIOs are cloud computing and shared services. Private sector organizations including Ford, GE, Pfizer and Rolls Royce have been successfully implementing shared services since 1980. However, failed implementations in the US public sector have been widely publicized leading to misconceptions about the role of shared services.
In this session you will learn what shared services are and how they can be successfully deployed to provide efficiency through industrialization, and cost avoidance by leveraging common resources. We will discuss how shared services and cloud computing are a perfect match. We will highlight the newest developments by FedRAMP and NIST on cloud standards and show you how community cloud is the perfect model for Shared Services.
Speaker:

When Nate Rushfinn presented “A Cloud Model That Works for the Federal Government” at the 2011 Digital Government Institute Cloud-Enabled Government Conference & Expo, attendees called his presentation “fantastic” and said Nate gave an "excellent presentation about guidelines for going to cloud”. In this August 29th webinar, participants will explore an in-depth understanding of shared services, including learning about the shared services saving model and how they are different from outsourcing. Nate will discuss the foundations of shared services like Virtualization, Multi-tenancy and the NIST cloud delivery models. On September 20th, during Digital Government Institute's Government Cloud Computing and Data Center Conference & Expo in Washington, DC, Nate will briefly review the shared services model and NIST and then go into examples of shared services in the public sector.
