Model Based Design in EW
Connecting physical objects—whether machinery, wearables, or even natural elements—offers unprecedented data insights. Using AI and digital twins as tools for early decision making to acquire capabilities from the new sensor world. These could be powerful tools to use in early market research elements such as predictive modeling, design validation and other early system engineering decision making processes specifically to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the design and development stages. Digital twin in a simulation environment can help AOC customers to segment their customers [user, operator, commander, supervisor] based on their behavior, preferences, and needs. AOC could then tailor their marketing efforts [read – stakeholder management] to specific groups of customers, which can lead to better engagement and higher acceptance of the solution – this is the ‘marketing’ side, i.e., convincing constituent stakeholders of the viability and feasibility of the solution (and documenting it in a tailored SE set of processes). Some ways to use digital twin and AI will be discussed at the presentation.
Speaker and Presenter Information
Vijay is a Senior Mentor in the Washington DC area. Being actively involved in neuromorphic computing (as a postdoc at NIH he collaborated with John Clay, John Rinzel, Wilfrid Rall and Henry Markram). When he was the President of IEEE EMBS NYC Chapter in 1989 at Rockefeller University, he started the algorithmic science seminars in systems molecular biology. As an IEEE Washington DC ADCOM member, he has focused on the history of IEEE and with the ONR Global work on systems science, he hopes to push the boundaries for knowledge systems. He has also been active with Sigma Xi and Washington Academy of Sciences for the past three decades in promoting STEAM in K-20. He has formed multiple robotics clubs both in USA and United Kingdom and showcased events at the National Building Museum, Navy Sea Air Space Expo, Washington DC Convention Center, Washington Science Festival and at the Farnborough Air show. Dr. Kowtha retired from Naval Research Laboratory after over 25 years there and has a PhD in Biomedical Engineering.
